I offer affirming therapy that is grounded in my experience as a sexologist. I welcome all individuals regardless of their ability, sexual identity, race/ethnicity, age, national origin, religious affiliation, and sexual orientation. I practice using an eclectic approach that is mindful, harm reductive and strengths-based.
While individuals vary in their goals of therapy, it is common for people to hit a road block while navigating their life. Given our techno-driven world, it is often difficult for individuals to find the space and time to work on themselves. Clients often feel a tug and pull between their own self-identity development and the need to conform with their given role in society.
How we are able to enjoy ourselves affects our physical and mental health. When people become more attuned to their body, they are able to experience pleasure in a more holistic way. People who focus on pleasure are able to experience the joy of life's daily peak experiences which results in greater levels of happiness.
Individuals often seek psychotherapy to address concerns around:
Trauma
Anxiety
Shame/guilt
Compulsive thoughts or behaviors
Fears
Stress
Racing Thoughts
It is common for relationships to hit speed bumps that can have rippling effects on the individuals involved. A struggling relationships can manifest in anger, lies, frustration, shame, recurring fights and silence. Individuals often experience feeling trapped in their relationship that was once filled with love and happiness. People may choose to come to therapy with their partner(s) to improve communication, resolve conflicts, manage sexual concerns and regain passion.
I offer therapy to heterosexual couples, LGBTQI couples, multiple-partner or poly individuals who are struggling in their relationships.
There are a myriad of myths around sex and sexuality that have been ingrained in the psyche of individuals as a product of time and evolution. The way that individuals understand and experience their own sexuality may affect how they relate to and interact with others. Sexuality is an innate human experience that uses all of our senses and is a vital part of the person we become. It goes far beyond sexual feelings or the act of sexual intercourse. It includes all of the thoughts, feelings and behaviors we have about our ability to feel attractive or being attracted to others, gender identity and expression, sexual health and sexual orientation. It also incorporates our thoughts about being in a relationship that may be comprised of intimate sexual and sensual activity. I often work with alternative sexualities.
Individuals, Couples, and multiple-partner relationships may seek sex therapy to address the following concerns:
Lack of desire (individually or within in a relationship)
Difficulties with arousal (individually or within in a relationship)
Lack of passion (individually or within in a relationship)
Trauma (this may or may not be sexual)
Compulsive sexual thoughts or behaviors
